Our raw materials - natural, vibrant and ecological
Wood has a future because it is a renewable resource. As a building material it combines many ecological, technical and economic advantages.
In our company we exclusively use domestic softwoods such as spruce, pine, larch and Douglas fir. From the natural raw material we obtain several products for home and garden.
Spruce (Picea abies)
With an area of over 3,0 million acres or share of approximately 32% the spruce is the most common tree species in Germany and thus an important species for forestry.
The wood is uniformly bright in the sap and heartwood.
In proportion to its relatively light weight the spruce has good strength and elasticity properties and is therefore particularly well suited as building and construction timber. Thus, the spruce has been used in half-timbered building for centuries.
Pine (Pinus sylvestris)
The pine has a share of 27% of the total forest area and is in addition to the spruce the most common tree species. Characteristics of the pine are the reddish to reddish-brown colouring of the core and the pronounced contrast between the heart and sapwood. Because of its good impregnability the pine is readily utilized outdoors, in construction as well as garden wood or for electricity pylons. In addition, the pine is frequently found in interior fittings.
The larch (Larix decidua)
The larch like the pine and Douglas fir is part of the heartwood tree family with its characteristically pronounced colour difference between the sap and heartwood. Because of its resistance to weathering the larch heartwood is mainly used outdoors for exterior cladding, building and constructional timber as well as in the hydraulic engineering sector.
Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menisci)
A native to North America, the Douglas fir is by now one of the most naturalized species. The woods yellowish to reddish-white colour is similar to that of the pine. The Douglas fir is preferred for outdoor use.
